Chevron Texaco Rewards: Simple, Rich, and Digital-Savvy
Fuel is a cutthroat game, with every brand trying to out-discount the other. That’s great news for you. We’ve already crowned Shell and 7-Eleven as Very Rewarding fuel champs, and now we’re looking at Chevron Texaco Rewards—available at over 7,000 stations, mostly in the South, Southwest, and West.
Spoiler: This is one of the simplest programs in the fuel space, but also one of the richest—without all the hoops.

⛽How it works:
Chevron Texaco Rewards earns in two main areas:
Fuel – over 7,000 stations nationwide
Convenience store purchases – at eligible stations
Two apps exist—Chevron and Texaco—but both work across stations, and the reward program is combined, so you only need to download one of them. The only difference? Logo, color, and marketing promos. It’s a little redundant, but fine.
Digital📱+ Payment Perks 💳
All the payment options – Credit, debit, PayPal, gift card, Venmo, and (rare) checking account linking. The last one is a big deal as it unlocks extra savings most brands don’t touch.
Partner linking – Sync your grocery gas rewards from Albertsons, Safeway, and more to combine earnings.
Apple CarPlay + Apple Watch transactions – Yes, you can fuel up without even touching your phone or wallet.
You don’t need the app to earn. Just enter your phone number at the pump if you’re old-school. But frankly, we’re impressed by all the payment options and utilities to make this program super simple to use. Kudo’s 👏🏼.
Let’s talk Rewards Earning:
Join bonus: 25¢ off/gal on your first 3 visits
Base: 5 points per gallon (max 25 gallons/fill-up)
Linked checking account: Instant extra 10¢/gal discount 🌟
Bonus points on select convenience store items (check the app)
Partner stack: Combine with eligible grocery gas rewards
Birthday + bonus offers sprinkled in
Expiration: Points only expire after 90 days of inactivity (a little tighter than we’d like)
No tiers. No “elite” boosts for premium fuel. Just straight, predictable earnings.
App is easy to navigate and fuel an c-store point earnings are shown prominently, as well as how many points you have.
How you Redeem:
50 points = 5¢/gal discount
100 points = 10¢/gal
250 points = 25¢/gal
500 points = 50¢/gal
You decide when to redeem—nothing auto-applies. Discounts from points stack on top of the 10¢/gal linked checking account bonus, which is very generous.
And as mentioned earlier, you can redeem by imputting your phone #, using the app, your apple watch, or even Car Play hook up. Unlike many brands that make redeeming hard, Chevron Texaco is practically begging you to get savings. Oblige!
what’s the value?
(We calculate “return value” as the percentage back based on your spend.
Example: earn $10 from $100 in purchases = 10% return value. Bigger the percentage the better)
Because this program earns per gallon, bigger tanks = better returns:
10 gal tank → 1.67% return
12 gal tank → 2% return
15 gal tank → 2.5% return
20 gal tank → 3.33% return
Here is an example:
Here is how much a member would spend and earn in points over 3 months on fuel, assuming they filled up 1x a week with a 10 gallon car and a 20 gallon car:
Price Per Gallon | Tank Size (gal) |
Points Earned | Spend |
---|---|---|---|
$3.00 | 10 | 600 | $360 |
$3.00 | 20 | 1,200 | $720 |
Now assume they go to redeem their 600 points for the 10 gallon tank over their next 2 fill-ups. Their return value is 1.67% ($6 in savings vs. $360 in spend).
$/Gallon | Tank Size (gal) |
Points Used | Fuel $ | Discount |
---|---|---|---|---|
$3.00 | 10 | 500 | $30 | $5.00 |
$3.00 | 10 | 100 | $30 | $1.00 |
Total Discount | $6.00 | |||
Return Value | 1.67% ($6 vs. $360) |
The car with the 20-gallon tank redeems its 1200 points over its next 4 fill-ups. Their return value is 3.33%.
$/Gallon | Tank Size (gal) |
Points Used | Fuel $ | Discount |
---|---|---|---|---|
$3.00 | 20 | 500 | $60 | $10.00 |
$3.00 | 20 | 500 | $60 | $10.00 |
$3.00 | 20 | 100 | $60 | $2.00 |
$3.00 | 20 | 100 | $60 | $2.00 |
Total Discount | $24.00 | |||
Return Value | 3.33% ($24 vs. $720) |
If you pay via a Linked Checking Account and get the 10 cents/gallon discount all the time, you can save anywhere from $52-$130 annually, assuming you fill up weekly. That’s another 3.3% return on top of points. Amazing!
While fuel programs tend to have lower return values, Chevron Texaco is rivaling some retail programs for richness, which is rare. And we aren’t even factoring in earnings from C-store, grocery partners, and birthday rewards, which could further increase these return values.
How Does It Compare?
Pay with linked checking + have a bigger tank? You’ll beat most other programs without jumping through status or “special designation” hoops. Smaller tank + pay with a regular card? You’re still competitive with Shell or Exxon, but without the tier grind.
Program | Return Value High to Low |
---|---|
Chevron Texaco | 1.67%–5% |
ExxonMobil | 1.1%–2.20% |
Shell | 1.67%–3.33% |
7-Eleven | 1.70%–4.7% |
